Sense of Place

I started with finding out what sense of place which to me means a place where I feel at home. Being with friends and family would be my sense of place. After that I figured out what I was going to do to show sense of place and I came up with the idea of a collage. After I got my ideas down I went to work and started finding pictures with me and either friends or family. As for the idea of doing a collage I chose it because I enjoy working with pictures and finding a way to make many small pictures into one big picture to tell a story. My thought process through out the entire project was to make sure I found pictures that showed I was part of a family and just to make it clear that my sense of place is being with my family and friends and feeling safe and at home.

Vader VS. Obi-Wan The Final Battle Sounds

I cannot count the amount of different sounds that are used in this scene but there are a lot. Some of the things I was able to hear were the music, the dialogue, the sound effects of the actual battle between Obi-Wan and Vader, and the sounds of changing environment that they are in.

The music used during the scene is tailored to the scene and has a dramatic mood to it to give it the feel that only one person will emerge in the and it may not be the person you think it's going to be. The music is fast paced which helps make it so dramatic.

The dialogue is clear and added after the fact and blended with the sound effects and music so it sounds nice but it isn't louder or quieter than everything else. Because they used a green screen they didn't have to remove much background noise from the filming environment and it was easier to record the audio. Also i highly doubt they'd film in an actual volcano.

The sound effects they've used were created by a Foley meaning someone has got things like sheets of aluminum to create the sound of thunder for example. They created the sounds of lightsabers hitting each other and them being activated as well of the sounds of the kicks. As for the other sounds like the surroundings falling apart and exploding they have a sound library of sounds like explosions and mechanical sounds that they were able to use.

The sounds and music are blended very well and do a good job at portraying a dramatic and realistic scene as far as a sci-fi scene gose for being realistic.

Movie Trailers

These are the original trailer and remade trailers for the movie Neighbours.
The original trailer was meant to be a comedic trailer for a comedy. I decided that i would turn that into a horror movie trailer. To do so I changed the music to a darker creepier song fading out the original audio. I also took certain clips that could be viewed as something that would be seen in a horror movie such as the scene for the end where Seth Rogan was sent flying and hit the roof. I also keep some of the original audio clips because what was being said in them because they sounded creepy and gloomy which fit with it being a horror movie. I added s flashing screen effect based on other horror movies to turn a scene that normally would have been funny to something scary. Titles were also added to add to the mystery and give it more of a horror movie vibe to it. The part I had the most trouble with was getting the flashes lined up and look good. I only had two trailers to work with which proved to be difficult but in the end I found ways to work around the small amount of content to work with. I wasn't expecting it to turn out as well as it did because this was my first time doing any sort of video editing. I am proud of the results and hope to more like it later.

This is a nifty after effects tutorial. Don't listen to Andrew when he says it is a exciting tutorial because they are not. Exploiosm

The lost sheep

This spoken word is done by Nick Vitellaro is about controlling your own life and not being lead by other people doing thing they do because you think it is right and what you should be doing. The audience is people who are in between 17 and 25 where a lot of things can influence who you are and the way you act. The message is be yourself and not what others want to you to be. It is a personal story portrayed through a spoken word poem and a video. Overall the quality of is was pretty good clear audio and a interesting location for filming it.

Snake's Castle

This is a picture of a chess piece I drew in CyberARTS.

The chess piece was an assignment we were given. The assignment said we had to draw a chess piece with value (shadows and what not), proportion and realism. It also needed to include a back ground the displayed movement, rhythm, or pattern.
I found a nice spot to place my chess piece to start with. Then I need to make sure I had the right paper and pencil. After I got all of that sorted out i began to draw my chess piece. To add value I had to give it shadows. To do so I used a light that was already set up next to me. By far the shading was the hardest part because I need to to get the shadows just right and by that i mean in the correct spots and the correct darkness of the shadow.

The background was fun. For the I decided to draw a snake. I chose the snake because of the of the pattern it has in its scales. I placed the chess piece in the centre of the snake so the viewers eye would be drawn to it.
